Have the A&P mechanic do an annual inspection but skip the prebuy. He is not accountable for anything he tells you in a prebuy report. He is accountable for one year for an annual inspection which is much more thorough than a prebuy.

I remove the bolt access cover on the outside of the fairings, then remove the 5/8 bolt that holds the outside of the fairing. Then I have a piece of plywood that is about 1.5 inches higher than the vertical distance between the ground and the lower edge of the fairing. This jacks up the outside edge of the fairing just enough to get to the valve stems.

Have you called David Fletcher (Mr.Grumman) FletchAir 830-990-2252. He knows everything about Grumman airplanes.

Remove your propeller and measure the pitch. Google search will show you how. I recently had my prop overhauled and re-pitched from a climb prop (56) to a cruise prop (59). I measured it after they finished to verify that it was done properly. The cost to re-pitch was $150.

In the Normal Category, all maneuvers are limited to a bank angle of 60 degrees. In the Utility Category, the bank angle is NOT limited to 60 degrees.
Please look at a 1973 AA5 Traveler POH, Section IV, page 1. It is explained more clearly in the AA5 POH.

Look at your weight and balance envelope in the POH. You must be in the Utility category box to do those maneuvers. DO NOT ATTEMPT A SPIN. THIS AIRPLANE SPINS VERY FLAT AND SOMETIMES FLIPS OVER. IT NEVER REGAINS FLYING SPEED SO YOUR FLIGHT CONTROLS ARE INEFFECTIVE. YOU WOULD ONLY GET TO SPIN THAT AIRPLANE ONCE.

You can remove the outboard fairing attachment bolt using a 5/8 socket wrench and the fairing will lift up enough for access to the valve stem for checking and inflating the tire.
