I am getting back into Grummans after a 10 year absence. Last plane was a blue AA1A. I am an IA from NJ. I am looking at a Tiger that is a good restoration candidate however the logs from 1977 to 1996 are currently missing. Since the wings spars are life limited at 12000 hours is there any other way I can show that the wings are original ? Are they serialized ? Is there a list of equipment somewhere or is this aircraft now just good for parts only ?

      Thanks
      Scott

The serial # of the airframe is written inside each wing when it’s installed. From a message by Bob Steward many years ago –

“The wing panels have the serial number vibro-etched on the aft spar, and may require removing the flap or aileron to read them, especially if the paint is heavy or re-coated in that area.”

That’s good news. Thanks. So if the serial number on wings match the serial number on the airframe it concludes that the airframe total time and wings total times are the same.
