Purchased a beautiful 1978 cheetah in 2019. Have flown her over 100 hours the last 10 months and she flys beautifully. My question is this: during the first annual this week we discovered that the timing for both mags were set at 23 degrees TDC. Is there a reason it was set up this way? And also should the mags be retimed to 25 degrees TDC? Plane flys smoothly and has plenty of pep when taking off.

The mag are called out to be timed at 25 BTDC +-2 degrees on our TCDS. So 23 would be at the low side and many planes of our size us 22 – 25 degrees BtDC for timing. So 27 would also be legal and give a bit more high altitude performance.
