Restoration Forum – Naming Convention

Is this Forum, we are going to use it to document small projects in the goal of making the plane better.

So we will use (Model Number) a hyphen (-) Project (i.e. paint, engine, firewall, panel, interior, etc.)

Examples: AA5B – Panel, AA1 – Interior, etc.

My thanks to Tracy in Houston for the suggestion, “Maybe a “sticky” post that stays at the top explaining how to word the project.”

AA5A-Horizontal Stabilizer Paint.

Good Morning: I disassembled my elevators and trip from the Horizontal Stabilizer to paint them. I didn’t mark top and bottom and now I am not sure which is which. Can someone help me identify top from bottom. Thanks.

Horiz is symmetric so either side can be top.

The elevator have a hinge for the trim on the top side.

The only difference is where they put the drain holes. On my AA-1B, I have a fin on the left side that was off another plane on the right side. Had to fill the drain holes, drill new holes on the other side before painting.
