Our Tiger has a fuel seep problem on both fuel tanks. Photos are attached. The first picture shows fuel stains and streaking on the bottom of the wing pilot’s side. This is near the wing faring. There is also a stain at the corner of the wing trailing edge/flap leading edge boundary at the wing faring. The second picture is a view of the same area from the top. The third picture is the access panel on the copilot’s side.

We are based at Torrance Airport (KTOA) in the Los Angeles Area and are looking for a recommendation for an A&P in our area with a known track record to troubleshoot and reseal our fuel tanks as needed. The fuel drains on both tanks also need to be replaced.

In the top picture inline you have a fuel inspection cover leaking. To fix, drain tank, remove screws and cover, clean and reseal with low-adhesion fuel tank sealant PRC 1428 comes to mind.

The other pictures shows what is a fuel tank leak into the space inboard of the rib (fuel tank side). Going to have to open, clean all the old sealant off and reseal with high-adhesion tank sealant PRC 1422B2

Closest Grumman guy in your area is Gary Vogt at AuCountry Aviation, CA

      Good Luck!

      Roscoe,

Thanks for the input on the required repairs. We are familiar with Gary. He did a major flap repair for us about a year ago. He does great work. However, we are trying to find someone closer to us to fix the leaks if we can.

      Mike

Do you think it will be necessary to remove the wing to fix the leak inboard of the fuel tank?

It should be able to stay on the plane.
