On my 1979 tiger annual the oil cooler flange was found to have a crack. The oil cooler itself works fine, it is just the mounting flange that is cracked. No one seems to accept the idea of simply welding the crack and I am willing to assume that they know better than me — but what is wrong with that approach ? Thanks for any information you can
It broke where it did for a reason. Welding it will buy you time until it fails again (usually at the same spot) so save yourself doing this again and make a new flange (ss is good)

Thanks for the information. As usual you seem to have the ability to bring a problem to it’s very basics. Really good to see you back on line and I hope that your recuperation is going well.
