Hi everyone. I recently acquired a Yankee AA1A s/n AA1A-0082, tail number N9382L with no logbooks. My original intent was to tear the airplane apart and sell the pieces, as it’s been sitting on the ramp of my home airport for (what I’ve been told) more than 20 years with the canopy cracked open. The interior is weathered away, and the panel and gauges have seen better days. However, after very little trying, I was able to get the engine to turn over and fire, and amazingly enough, everything works. Engine instruments, nav instruments, radios, transponder, airspeed, etc. Call it nostalgia, but after seeing this, and being no stranger to aircraft restorations, I would like to try to find the logbooks for this ship and try to get it in the air instead of scrapping the airframe. I was hoping someone here might have some kind of information surrounding this serial and tail number, other than what a basic internet or FAA registry search provides. The last registered owner is a James A. Schirmer. I was told he kept or flew the airplane to my home airport (KFLY) and died shortly thereafter. Any help or information you could provide would help me greatly!
