If your thinking about LEDS for landing lights check out STC SA02212AK.

Yep, the same one I put on my Cheetah. Works like a charm and I can leave it on in high-traffic areas without worrying about it burning out.

Tracy,
I cannot find a Cheetah on that list. Nor any AA5 aircraft.

Our birds are found under items 130 and 131 as Airplane Make: True Flight Holdings.
Anything to reduce the load on our aging wiring looks good to me.

See and Be Seen —- that is the best attribute for the LED Landing light replacement for the stock light. The power consumption and lack of heat generated by the light allows the light to be used the majority of the time in flight and on the ground. Mine is on at taxi and off when the engine is shut down. Most commercial operators have all their lights on below 18,000′. The reason is enhanced Safety.
In fact, all the exterior lights, including the anti-collision light, are now LED bulbs. The nav lights flash when I want them to and the white reae nav light is in the brightness category of a strobe. All at minimal power drain.
Luckily my IA firmly believes in safety and fully supports these lights on my airplane.
My airplane does not have wingtip strobes, a condition that I will change within the next few weeks with a trip to Fletchair.

Thanks Richard. Exactly what I was looking, and hoping for.

What LED setup do you have on the red verticle stab “beacon”?
Thanks

Most folks, just install a Whelen Orion strobe/nav LED in the tail, shed the weight of the resistor, ballast, wire and socket, replace with faired in rudder tip, balance and fly away drawing about 1 amp versus 10-12 doe the flashing beacon.
If you have a red rudder cap, then you can find a 360 degree strobe and mount it under the red cap. The trick is finding the right strobe bulb, a wingtip one does not have the required coverage. The white strobes they sell for Cessna bellies might work if the socket and strobe bulb fit under the cap).

I installed a pair of AeroLED Sunbeams with a Maxi pulse controller into a AG5B.
Direct bolt in replacement for the two candles that were in it. Seen in the day and see into the dark. would never go back to the candles. -

I’m looking into upgrading my stock lights. Am currently taking a look at these – anyone have experience with any of them?
Landing Light – Whelen LED Parmetheus Plus PAR36 14V (There is an even-brighter Whelen Parmetheus Plus G3 coming out soon – but not available until August-ish 2018)
Nav Lights – Whelen Chroma Position LED Lamp – 14V
TailCone – Whelen 7155411 14V LED Tail Light. Some folks have mentioned the Orion Strobe – but according to Whelen,
Beacon – Whelen Model 71055 LED Beacon for Cessnas – 14V
I also saw the GPA video about the Orion 500 to replace the tailcone recognition, however Whelen didn’t recommend this because of the mounting. They said the LEDs will “point” the wrong way. For anyone that’s done it – I’m curious whether that’s an issue.
Thank you!

I don’t know what Whelen is talking about regarding the Orion 500 in the tail cone, it is on their STC and fits perfectly. When coupled with the 650’s in the wingtips you have all around LED nav and strobe lighting.
BTW I went with the Alpha Beam LED landing light and am very happy with it. The first time I few in at night my wife could see me from miles away!

Thanks for the info, Dennis. Would you mind taking a photo of the Orion 650s on the wingtips? For the life of me, I can’t see how they would fit, even if I removed the existing strobe. I’d love to pull the trigger on this, but don’t want a complicated project. Picture of mine attached.
