These are the famous ‘cowl bumpers’ that I created and installed on our Grummans to prevent the cracking of the upper screw holes from the cowling flexing when the latches are pushed in (Cheetah and Tiger).

We have a new design that serves the same purpose.

Give me a call if you want a set.

I have always wondered what those were?

[cotter] Ken, I’ve been wondering how one deals with the aluminum chips that will find their way into the honeycomb on the back side of the firewall when drilling the holes for any fire mounted item, such as these bumpers. Vacuum what you can and forget about the rest?

      John,

Not drilling all the way through the honeycomb material, just though the firewall side skin. Most of the chips come out on the bit, but if there are some in the honeycomb, they will be seal in by the rivet. Not a W&B issue either.

      Cheers
