      Because a flight school in the southwest needed additional cooling, the factory had a template for cutting a hole in the back of the cowling strut boot to allow more air to exit the cowling, in theory, giving greater cooling. Here is the Text of the PDF for the mod with template: AK-144    Strut Boot

      Can this be done with the boot on the airplane? It’s legal right?

      If you look in the original post you will see a link to Factory AK-144, so it can be applied as needed in the field by a rated mechanic who follows the AK.

      Airworthiness Directives (ADs) as manadatory for flight but SK, AK, SI, SL, SB are all optional in the US.

      That is a lot of letters.
