Having to clean the dirty rails and tracks gave the perfect excuse to change out the worn front canopy seal (installed backwards). So while the rails and tracks were being cleaned, we took off the old seal and found this pile of old adhesive.Old Adhesive So we took a scraper and took of the easy stuff. Then took a rag and soaked the adhesive with Xylene. Following this we scraped the canopy area giving this residue. After Scrapping Finally the area was Roloc’ed to take it down to bright metal. Then it is cleaned with lacquer thinner to take any oil off the metal so that the new adhesive will stick well.Canopy Front Clean Remember that while the canopy if off be sure an clean the front of the turtledeck that normally cannot be gotten to easily.Convertable Sam

      Hi Roscoe,

I need to replace this seal on my AA 5A Cheeta.

Is there a recommended adhesive to attach the new seal.

Parts list suggests there are 4 rivet locations but mine has 3 either side at top and 1 either side at bottom.

You mention the seal was installed backwards?

Is it obvious which side should be glued to the canopy?

If not how can you tell which side should be glued to the canopy.

The attached file is a copy of my request to a parts supplier in the UK with photographs of the damaged seal.

Canopy Seal and Windshield Seal Redo in the Restorations forum show exactly how to mount it. The manual is not mush help.

I cannot read the file On my mobile device since I am on vacation.

      Cheers

      Thank you for the explanation.

I think that only half of the canopy seal is glued to the canopy to give a cross section like

      Grumman AA 5A canopy Seal

      Is that correct?
