Can a 72 Traveler (s/n 162) be retrofitted for a baggage door? I see there is a cutout in the interior lining of baggage area (pilot side)for what I suspect would be the baggage door.

      Thanks

It could be done on a field approval, but it would be cheaper to sell this AA5 and buy another with door and move your stuff.

      FYI

Thank you Roscoe, it makes sense. Of course, I do not want to spend the money on another plane just for the Baggage door, so I might as well get more hp too. Time to look for a Tiger. ?

Just for a reference, a neighbor just added a baggage door to an early Cessna 175 that did not have it. A company had produced an STC kit using all used Cessna parts from later models. No one has done the same for the early Travelers, so it would be expensive to get a DER to build a packet to get the approvals for the mod. My neighbor probably had 15+ hours in the installation on the Cessna. I would expect it would be the same for labor on the AA-5.

Technically possible with the door frame from a wreck or salvage. Just a lot of time and paperwork. I had a 73 for years and loved the baggage door but learned to live without it.
