Attached is a picture of my lower panel with the EGT gauge on the right. You can see 3 sets of pairs of screws each of which hold some sort of what appears to some sort of clamp. I can’t figure out what these metal holders(clamps) were used for. They hold nothing now. I plan to remove them as well as the old EGT to repair the lower panel and vent.
Please let me know if there is any reason I should not remove them.
      Thanks again,
      Frank

Just a wild guess… back in the 90’s, I may have “heard about” a Grumman or two that had a non-STC’d car CD player bootlegged in and wired to the audio panel.

Of course, they could have been there for some entirely different purpose, too.

      😉

      -Yoyo!

The plastic air vent boxes could not support very much weight of anything hanging below it on those brackets, plus kicking the item when getting in and out of the airplane I am surprised the vent boxes are not all broken up.
I was guilty of having a auto cassette player in the instrument stack back in the 80’s. It came out easily during annuals. I found it in a junk box last year and had a laugh, before it went in the trash.

Thanks gent’s…sounds like I can remove them. It will make the repair much easier.
      Cheers
