I searched the forum and didn’t see an answer.

Is there a direct LED bulb replacement for my beacon? I have the red cap with a clear bulb. I’m in the process of converting all my exterior lights to LED.

      Best Regards,

      Erik

I don’t know of one that puts out 125 watts. A search of Aircraft Spruce did not reveal any.

Lately folks have been going to the 2-place elevator tip, which serves as the rudder cap when you remove the rotating beacon and jelly jar from the top. You then go to a combined tail nav light /strobe, in LED, and you are covered. As folks will tell you, the Whelen Orion series are retinal burning. http://www.yankee-aviation.com/newstuff.htm

      One point of view.

Roscoe, I want to do this STC for the tail nav/strobe referenced above (72, AA1-A). I also need a an elevator tip for the VS cap replacement. Mine is broken and want to loose the jelly jar. Can I get an all in price for the Whelen Orion series replacement and an elevator tip (assuming you have one)? I found the STC paperwork on Whelen’s website. I’ll be needing instructions for the removal of the old strobe power supply as well.

SPEC: AA1-A, 1971 Serial AAA-0289. If you need any other info, please let me know.

        Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Roscoe! I’ll look into the Orion nav/strobe.
