Participant….congrats?
I know this is an outdated post however, I am a little curious how this is possible? I met with Roscoe on 4/30/16 and flew 9615L out of Winter Haven field FL. to see if I was interested in this bird when I was shopping. OP timestamp is posted 2015. Is this right or is the year screwed up on the forums?
What happened? Did the deal fall through? I passed on it and am curious what happened to it.
Cheers

ParticipantWent out yesterday armed with q-tips and avgas to fix my very sticky canopy once and for all….
I only have Teflon tracks on the top of my rails… the bottom ones are nowhere to be found. =(
Any ideas where they can be purchased from?Edit: For those interested, Fletchair has them at $35 a piece (4 total) – AA1

ParticipantThe completed stack! Everything is in working order and the intercom is very nice to have. I do need to replace the long coax runs to the antennae before I can use my comms. The rubber jacket is rotting =(

ParticipantGetting there! Harness is installed and trays are rough mounted. Still haven’t received my kx125 so final tray placement will depend on that.
Here’s a preview!

ParticipantPulled everything in the radio stack out on Sunday morning. Will be installing the following this week.
GMA-340
King KX-235 navcom (com1) will drive ki-208
Icom A220 (com2)
gtx-327If anyone sees anything they want its free to the highest postage. Most of the old stuff was inop. most of my connections/switches/etc. were very badly corroded. No idea if the units work with good connections.

ParticipantDennis,
First off, I apologize for not updating this thread earlier. I posted in the Restoration forums as I am knee deep replacing the entire radio stack.
As of 3 weeks ago, I am the proud owner of a Yankee Clipper AA1 N5942L (pictured above) with the laminar flow wing and a 150hp O-320 lycomming.
Full fuel (22gal) and 2 adults at max gross my plane climbs EASILY at 1000ft/min in sunny 90 degree Florida. Cruise at 2400RPM gets 130mph at 8-9gal/hr. Solo flight with full tanks is 1600-1700 ft/min.
I am glad I decided to get the O320 as I have heard rumors about the O235’s and climb performance.

ParticipantAlright, so I need some advice from all you guys out there…
Turns out that most of my avionics are just old and not working
Currently I have installed
– toggle switch style audio panel
– King kx175 – one set of jacks and no PTT – RX only TX-inop
– narco at50 transponder – currently inop
– old loran unit – also inopI just purchased a GMA340 Audio Panel to install that gives intercom and much needed compatibility for updates
I need a new radio (or 2), one of which I would like to drive a glideslope — I was thinking of a kx155 or Garmin SL30
also might consider installing a gtx327 if there is a cost effective upgrade option for ads-b compliance.
I am on a limited budget (<5k) but would consider a little expense for added features.
Is someone has some suggestions I would REALLY appreciate them!!

ParticipantThanks, will definitely look into that.
Other than ground clearance, does this look to be on par with other planes price wise?
Any immediate deal-breakers I might find upon first inspection?
I really appreciate the help, I find myself crawling though google to find answers to questions I haven’t even thought to ask.

ParticipantGoing to look at this one on Thursday, anyone have any thoughts? Seller is asking 17.3k
If everything checks out and the mechanic agrees everything is in order, I’ll be flying it home.

Needed
mags
Paint not signed off by ap
Mode c issue
450hrs smoh but it was done in 2001
Needs oil filter – chip detector has issues. Not sure how much that all would cost from a reputable ap/ia
Then there is this one that looks great but is a bit on the high side…
