I am the proud owner of a 1978 Cheetah. Bought her last year and have flown appr. 100 hours. Annual was performed one month ago with just a few minor fixes. Compression was good on all cylinders on the o320. Oil consumption low. Two hundred total on rebuilt engine.
My question… when I add power on the take off roll my RPM reading shows about 2400rpms. During climb out it continues at that rpm until I drop the nose just a little. Climbing out at 80 kts indicated. Then the rpms will increase to about 2500 to appr 2650. I realize rpms will increase with less pitch attitude but 2400 seems low to me. Is this normal?

You are climbing at 80K, so try climbing at less angle with more airspeed, says 95 to 100 knots. You will get better engine cooling, more rpms and the same or better climb rate as you had at 80K.
Stock engine or 160 hp high-compression?
