Contemplating coming back to aviation for transportation (I have had to drag 20+ tons of equipment everywhere I go for last 3 decades, so short of buying a Herc, no longer practical to fly), and of course, a Tiger is IMHO the ultimate in cost effective personal transport.
BUT: As good as it is, time has moved along, and if one still wishes to fly behind a spark ignition engine, there seem to be better ways (well, going diesel is 10x better, but show me an engine that will work) there are some options. I have watched O-540s go under the cowl, and various versions of O and IO 360, but nobody ever seems to mention the IO-390. Hearing what it does for a C-177 and better yet the startling improvement in Commander 114 with IO-580 STC, IMHO it makes the Tiger a natural home for this engine (with an MT c/s prop).
Let’s hear the plus and minus side (that one starting out with cost, obviously)
