I have 79 Grumman Tiger that likes to pop the breaker when all switches are turned on. Thought it might be the brushes in the alternate and have replaced them, unfortunately that has not solved the problem. VR seems to be working properly and the alternator has approx 900hrs. What is the approx lifespan of an alternator? Mech has checked everything that he can think of.

Reading what you have done leads me to suspect the breaker itself. It is 38 years old and should be replaced. Just did this on a 1977 Cheetah. Breaker popped one flight. Popped again a few flights later. It broke apart when removing it. Very burned. Picture in this forum post from 2 years 8 months ago. http://gpa.grumman-parts.com/topic/electrical-woes/

      Cheers

Thanks Roscoe, but I apparently forgot to mentioned that the breaker was replaced about 2 months ago. Got interrupted when posting the question.
