I have a 1975 Tiger currently undergoing its annual inspection.

The mechanic has notice an engine vibration when running at around 1700RPM. It seems to smooth out over 2000RPM. Cylinder compression is good with all four cylinders in the mid 70s. The engine is mid time at approx. 900 hours.

He thinks it may be an issue with the carburetor and he is also checking the valve clearances.

Is there anything else he should be checking? I would prefer to avoid a carb overhaul, if possible.

      Daniel,

I’m curious…did your mechanic solve the vibration?

      Daniel,

If you have the McCauley prop then that is the reason fro the yellow arc on the tach, the vibration of the prop and engine combination in that RPM range during descent, can set up a vibration. It does not happen with the Sensenich props.

      FYI
