Grumman Tiger AA-5B #1056: On the upper cowling hinge, the first 2 sections are cracked and broke. Is the structural integrity significantly impacted? And if so, is there a repair option recommended?
Since they are not together, you are safe to fly, but it will need to be repaired by a Grumman shop. We carry spare hinge in stock should you need any.
Thanks Roscoe. The hinges appear to be bonded and riveted. If bonded, how are they removed without distorting the upper cowl halves? Alternatively, can the broken tabs be welded?
