After owning and insuring a Tiger since 1982, my insurance premium jumped 72%. The explanation provided was: “…due to adverse loss experience for this particular make and model in the marketplace…”. Moreover, the “open pilot provision” demanded such pilot must have a private pilot/ instrument rating, 750 hours PIC, and 25 hrs in make and model.

Has anyone other than me experienced such? My agent asserts that they have.

      Yes!
Accident free for all of my 22 years of flying. 1 engine failure and 1 partial failure (not in my Grumman) and never even put a grass stain on an aircraft. My premium jumped 300% for my AA1A! For the same reason you mentioned.
There was one accident in Portland, Tn last year that claimed two lives however. But, as a whole, accidents were reported as being down as of recent in a all makes and models.

I have a 91 Tiger, about 300 hrs TT and about 170 hrs in a Tiger. No IR or claims. My premium did not go up for 2018 and in fact went down slightly for the same hull value. Check with Norm Hibbler at Aircraft and Marine for another quote.
