KeymasterAV-30 STC and AML – Be on the lookout for a registration form for the AV-30 or place your pre-buy order at Grumman-Parts.com no payment required until the STC for Grummans is approved.
Why is this important? Unlike the tailBeacon, the STC/AML process will be different because certain aspects can be airframe specific. Vendors are selling the units (pre-certification) with no regard to the AML
This means that while the baseline information of the TSO & STC can be reused, uAvionix may need to modify it.
If our planes are not on the initial AML, we will have to wait until new paperwork is submitted and approved.
Because of your support of Grumman Parts through your tailBeacon orders, we have an excellent relationship, but that will not guarantee AML status on the initial STC.

ParticipantAccording to the installation manual the gps input will be VFR only, without approach capability ( no glide slope), hopefully that changes w the certified version.

Keymaster12/31/19 New information from last week’s meeting regarding the AV-30-C by uAvionix.
1.ALL GRUMMAN CLASS I and CLASS II aircraft will be on the AML.
2. While the website uAvionix FAQ lists the certified units for replacement of the TC only, if 2 units are installed, you should be able to yank the Vacuum system. (they will be approved as Primary Flight Instruments)
3. The AV-30-C units are capable of full ARINC429** software updates that will upgrade the units.
4. STEC Autopilot support will be the first to be released.
It is up in the air if the Century Line or BendixKing/TruTrak will be next. Treo is a lower priority for us at this point based on the volume of installs and future potential near-term. I would like your feedback on this!!!!! There are quite a few of us planning to go with the TruTrack but most of us have non-supported Century autopilots in the plane. I expect to know more next week on the BK decision to certify Grummans as next the airframes for TruTrak. (stay tuned)
5. The new tailBeaconX with an integrated transponder will be controllable from the unit.
Question: Will the AV-30C display vertical guidance for IFR approaches?
**The initial AV-30 Certified software release will not have ARINC429 software enabled to provide the Glide Slope.
The current GPS data overlay information is RS232 data.
So, on the first release, it will not be able to serve as a primary indicator for IFR GPS Vnav. But,unlike the Garmin G5, it will be designed to play well with other manufacturers’ hardware. This is a high priority planned upgrade for 2020.
I would love to tell you everything I know, but, I am required to respect confidentiality as my role with uAvionix expands beyond reseller.
Please comment with your thoughts and questions. -

KeymasterThe certified AV-20 is shipping now and we have them in stock at grumman-parts.com
The AV-30C expected ship date later this month. Everything is done and waiting on the FAA signoff. The Virus may or may not be a factor. Units are built and ready to ship. Jeff
